Olabode Ibiyinka George ("Bode George") is a Nigerian politician who became Military Governor of Ondo State, and later Chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority, then national vice-chairman in the southwest zone of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)
While the SHERRIFF faction was then under the leadership of OTUNBA SEGUN ADEWALE supported by the PDP governorship candidate,
Mr. JIMI AGBAJE, the Makarfi faction is still under the control of Mr. MOSHOOD SALVADOR with the support of former PDP Deputy Chairman, Chief.BODE GEORGE
Due to an appellate court decision that initially recognized Sheriff as the National Chairman, the LASIEC accepted the list of the PDP candidates contesting the elections from the Sheriff faction in the state.
With the decision of the apex court, however, the party chieftain disclosed that there have been agitations that some aggrieved loyalists of the Makarfi faction in the state might approach the court to challenge the validity of the candidate list submitted to the LASIEC.
According to him, the Sheriff faction treated BODE GEORGE with disrespect despite his contribution to the party at all levels. They would have retired had it been Sheriff won at the Supreme Court.
He said the aggrieved members were ready “to fight both politically and legally unless the national leaders quickly wade in on time and work out a political solution. Failing to work out political solution may eventually edge out the PDP out of the contest.”
However, OTUNBA SEGUN ADEWALE defended the list of the chairmanship and councillorship candidates submitted to the LASIEC, noting that it was validly submitted because the decision of an appellate court recognized Sheriff then as the PDP National Chairman.
Moreover, OTUNBA SEGUNADEWALE said rather than the Lagos PDP going into the election “as a united team”, “George and his team of desperate followers are consistently frustrating all attempts at reconciliation towards any elections” Chief BODE GEORGE directed all loyalists of the Makarfi faction in the state“ to go into alliance with the LABOUR PARTY in the council elections scheduled for Saturday. Already, they are contesting and funded by Chief OLABODE GEORGE on the platform of the LABOUR PARTY.
Presently, the party exco in Lagos as been dissolved and the battle and race of who takes over the party is on , presently the PDP Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates in last Lagos state Local government election have thrown their support behind OTUNBA SEGUN ADEWALE for his excellent and leadership quality in managing the affairs of Lagos PDP and also the ability to win coming election and also deliver Lagos to PDP, the candidates also voice out their displeasure of Chief Olabode George taking over Lagos PDP as nothing good will come out of it, because he can not win his own polling booth talk less of delivering Lagos to PDP

A Communiqué to PDP NWC and BOT Members by:
All PDP Candidates in the just Concluded Local Council Election 2017
In view of the recent internal political crisis rocking the Lagos Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the PDP Candidates in the recently concluded LG/LCDA election hereby formally Congratulate the NWC of PDP led by Senator Ahmed Markafi and every members of PDP Nation wide.
We the Candidates that contested in the recently concluded LG poll in Lagos state hereby bring to the notice of the NWC,
PDP BOT and every other PDP leaders and the entire PDP lovers and supporters that the problem rocking the state chapter of the party is not Markafi/Sheriff power tussle issue, but a unanimous decision of every well-meaning youth of the party that had suffered a lot since 1998 to 2017 in struggling to ensure that PDP attain the position of a ruling party in Lagos state.
However, we are using this medium to inform our Leaders at the National level and the general public that the internal crisis rocking the party is between Chief Olabode George the assumed PDP Factional National leader and The real Grassroots PDP members across the state worked Independently with a mindset of forming a formidable team that will produce more and reasonable electoral victory and possibly produce the first ever PDP Government in Lagos by 2019.
Therefore, we strongly condemned the leadership of Chief Olabode George who does not have a sound grassroot political record to continue to have a predominant value over the well-meaning grassroots PDP members that have sounds grassroot political track records.
In other words, if Chief Bode George can boldly campaign, support, financed and mobilized against PDP which he had benefited immensely from, in favoured of Labour Party and even go to the extent of attempting to Short Changed
the party's Candidates lists at LASIEC office 2days to the election, after publicly announced through the media stations that Lagosians should vote for Labour Party, then we are of the view that he is not worthy to continue as the recognised leader of PDP in Lagos State . The same Bode George instructed his factional PDP members in Lagos to decamp to Labour Party and contests against PDP while Chief Bode George was busy destroying, destabilizing the party, chief Mrs. Aduke Maina was encouraging and pushing the agenda of PDP in Lagos ensuring victory to all our candidates in Lagos.
On the other hand, we are of the view that Otunba Segun Adewale Aeroland is a real grassroot politician with sound socio-political track records which a lot of well meaning grassroots PDP members across the state can testify to.
His political antecedent record made him to have the support of the 6 elected House of Representatives members from
Lagos state to support his leadership as the Competent State Chairman of PDP in Lagos.
At this junction, we the candidates of the just concluded local govt election in Lagos State hereby pass a vote of confidence in the leadership of OTUNBA SEGUN ADEWALE and his excos in Lagos State.
By and Large, we urge the NWC and BOT to please look into the political issues and misery surrounding Lagos PDP since
1999 till date critically, you will find out that Chief Bode George is only using Lagos PDP as a money making machine
at the detriments of PDP members, lovers and supporters at the grassroots level in favour of the ruling AD, AC, ACN and
now APC party in Lagos state.
In conclusion the national working committee does not come into this matter and recon with us, also identify
with our cause, we will be forced to look for an alternative. We opined that if the NWC and BOT members wish the
Lagos PDP well in the coming elections most especially in 2019, then they should please accord the due recognition
to the leadership of Otunba Segun Adewale (Aeroland ) as the preferred PDP State Chairman whose political antecedents,
charisma and enthusiasm are convincing enough to be emulated and recognized.
