MAN UNITED OFFERS JOSE MOURINHO LUCRATIVE NEW DEAL TO WARD OFF PSG

Manchester United want Jose Mourinho to extend his stay at Old Trafford.
They plan to open contract talks with their manager in the New Year, with a lucrative extension on the table to reflect the new-found success and progress he has brought.
United are confident he will not be tempted by the lure of a move to Paris Saint-Germain next summer, despite recently expressing his admiration for the project at the mega-rich French club.
Mourinho signed a three-year contract when he succeeded Louis vaIn an exclusive interview with MirrorSport this week, the Portuguese pointed out that he is only halfway through his project of taking United back to the top and acknowledged the aim is to deliver a first Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down in 2013.
“I signed a three-year contract and when I signed that three-year contract it was basically to try and improve the direction of the football team,” said Mourinho.
“And obviously when we want to improve the direction of the football team, it means to try and win titles, which we did already last season.
"But when we speak about titles, everyone obviously thinks about the Premier League.”n Gaal in summer 2016, then led United to League Cup and Europa League success - and straight back into the Champions League - in his debut season. There have also been murmurings of discontent at United over the perceived negative style Mourinho’s side have adopted at times this season, particularly in a drab 0-0 draw at Liverpool.
But the Old Trafford top brass do not share such concerns, believing he has improved the quality and style of play — despite a few under-par displays this term.
The club has also dismissed any notion Mourinho is unhappy in Manchester and ready to quit after just two seasons, insisting the 54-year-old remains committed to the cause.Mourinho, who is on around £15million a year now, has been backed to the tune of nearly £300m in the past two summer transfer windows and United intend to provide the same level of financial clout to him in the market going forward.
But they are unlikely to buy in January, with both manager and club preferring to do their business in the summer, when it is easier to land the calibre of player they want.
Misfit left-back Luke Shaw, who has fallen out of favour under Mourinho and made just two substitute appearances, both in the League Cup, this season, will not be allowed to leave in January.
